About Konoba Bunar

Warm, rustic charm sets the tone the moment one steps inside Konoba Bunar, where exposed stone walls and soft lighting create an inviting enclave amid Hvar’s more bustling areas. The restaurant balances tradition with subtle modern touches, offering a glimpse into regional culinary customs without feeling overly formal. While some diners might find the ambient noise rising during peak hours, this lends a lively character rather than detracts from the overall experience. Browsing through Konoba Bunar’s menu reveals an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, skillfully prepared with an eye for balancing simplicity and flavor depth.

Dishes here often reflect a deep respect for Dalmatian coastal fare, with notable highlights such as squid ink risotto and slow-cooked lamb that resonate deeply with those familiar with the cuisine, while providing an authentic introduction for newcomers. Photos and reviews from previous patrons frequently showcase these culinary offerings, underlining both the artistic plating and satisfying textures. Some items lean heavily on classic recipes, which might feel less adventurous to diners seeking novel or experimental twists, but the consistency in quality remains a clear strength throughout. The beverage selection complements the food thoughtfully, though the wine list, while respectable, may not be extensive enough for more discerning oenophiles.

Attentiveness from the staff aligns well with the restaurant’s overall atmosphere, neither rushed nor overly formal, contributing to an experience that feels both considered and welcoming. Value for price holds up under scrutiny, especially when compared to other eateries in the area, making Konoba Bunar a solid choice for visitors looking to explore authentic Dalmatian tastes without the trappings of tourist-focused menus. For those curious about what makes this spot distinct, the presence of authentic, heartfelt expressions of local culture shines through, a factor evident in how the restaurant is often mentioned in various local food discussions and community recommendations.

We had a nice meal here but we weren't blown away by the fish stew. It was mushy & didn't contain much other than a few bits of fish & a few slices of potato. The tuna starter was excellent, as was the mussels The waiter (Yovan) was very, very friendly & lovely.

Arrived late on a Sunday night to this cute restaurant nestled in a cute alley. The food was amazing. Very good portion sizes. Some of the best I had in Croatia, period. The service was excellent. I’d highly recommend the Konoba Bunar.

There are so many places to chose from in Hvar, but Konoba Bunar is the best. The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was everything we could have hoped for. After a long day of traveling, this restaurant saved the day.

We ordered grilled sea bass and grilled calamari. Both were very fresh and tasty. Both the host and waitress (Antonia) are very friendly and social. The service is very good. It is recommended!

Best experience here ! Our waiter (he will recognize himself) told us to take the clams and that the best part was to dip the bread in the sauce in the end and it was the best thing ever !!!! We came back the next day and had the greatest time ever ! It was in August 2024…sorry for the late comment ! Thank you guys you were the best !!!

This was one of our first meals in Hvar and it didn’t disappoint! The food was fresh, original flavour and delicious; not to mention the portions were decent too. The owner was friendly and attentive, spoke to us about some of the recipes. We had the Octopus Salad, Mussels with Garlic broth and seafood risotto - I recommend them all!
